Non-Canadians on the air in Canada.

When I first dipped my toe into the Canadian radio market back in 1990, the sound of a non-Canadian voice on music radio was very rare. In fact, I wasn't sure if I would be accepted on the airwaves at all. Thankfully, I came across some very open minded PDs in Pat Cardinal, JJ Johnson, Gord Eno and Brad Phillips to name a few,who were willing to give a young eager Irishman his chance.
Listening to Vancouver radio now, it's great to hear Australian jocks on both 95Crave and Rock 101. These guys are holding down evenings and sounding great. Plus, I believe a cosmopolitan city like Vancouver can handle this diversity and shows what an open minded city it really is.
To anyone from the UK, Ireland, Australia and beyond, it's also adds another market where your talents can be used and your experience can be enhanced.

That's it from the West Coast for now -
